The Death and Life of Otto Bloom

Death and Life of Otto Bloom, The (Cris Jones, 2016) Xavier Samuel, Rachel Ward, Matilda Brown; fantasy

Cris Jones' debut feature is that rare thing: a mock documentary that reaches a genuine emotional depth. Craig Mathieson, SMH.

... refreshingly unpredictable, a particularly pleasing virtue in these dark days of superhero this and sequel that.
There's no pegging where Jones' left-of-centre yarn is going. There's a smidge of airy intellectualism about it, but the restrained quasi-real format works. The film evolves into a lean, enjoyable, thoughtful work, always with time – so to speak – to throw up an interesting idea or two. Luke Buckmaster, The Guardian.
