After The Artist‘s win in the Oscars, Bob Ellis, like me, thought of our own recent silent movie, Dr Plonk (Rolf de Heer, 2007). Bob doesn’t like it because he doesn’t think the Dutch director is capable of making a funny film. (He's right, as usual) I don’t like it because I think the Polish non-actor in it only got cast because she’s fat (or dietetically-challenged, if you prefer) and ppl seem to think that fat people are per se funny. She’s not.
