Love Birds (Paul Murphy, 2011) Rhys Darby, Faye Smythe, Alvin Maharaj; romcom; NZ
We all know about the relationship New Zealanders have with sheep, even if sometimes the sheep's view is a negative one (as in Black Sheep (Jonathan King, 2006—a horror comedy with zombie werewolf sheep). But here's something different, when Boy Meets Duck.
While it ends up a muddled pile of subplots with an odd lack of common sense, Love Birds fights its way to the middle due to efforts from the cast and crew, who struggle heroically to bring character and sonic lift to a bland premise. Brian Orndorf.
