Lynton Butler is mostly responsible for this, tho some other guy wrote the novel. The thing that most struck me was that the male characters were drinking heavily in every single scene, except the one at work, on the killing floor. Actually, no, Bruce Spence’s complete inability to act struck me more. Fortunately, Butler never got another gig of any kind. Unfortunately, Spence goes on and on and on. As a man he's witty and wise; as an actor he should have stuck with engineering.
