52 Pickup (John Frankenheimer, 1986) Roy Scheider, Ann-Margret, Vanity
A secret fling between a man and his mistress leads to blackmail and murder.
The pickup is not a truck (/utility): apparently it’s relevant that there are 52 cards in a deck. I’m talking about John Frankenheimer’s 1986 film, but mostly in ignorance, despite having seen it. What can I say: Elmore Leonard’s are stories of a particular kind, which provide much entertainment – which is distracting. Which we sometimes need. Too often.
