Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore

Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (Martin Scorsese, 1974) wr. Robert Getchell; Ellen Burstyn, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Bush, Diane Ladd, Valerie Curtin, Lelia Goldoni, Vic Tayback, Jodie Foster, Alfred Lutter, Harvey Keitel

Alice gets involved with two duds, and then finds Mr Right.  I thought that the Mr Right bit (Kristofferson) was the least convincing part of the film – but migod we needed a happy ending.  (And it was ideologically the right ending.)

I thought the two main plot lines were: Alice; and Alice+Tommy. ... Her husband Donald, and Harvey Keitel's Ben ("I will cut your ass") and KK's David marked stages in Alice's development towards independence - self-actualisation - but were not the point itself.
