Amsterdam

Amsterdam (David O. Russell, 2022) Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington; in the 1930s, three friends witness a murder, are framed for it, and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history

I should write these notes immediately after watching the film. All I can remember now is Christian Bale screwing up his face to try to look like someone acting a character to 'earn' the $5 mill he usually gets for appearing. (Tho I'm told he took a cut for this movie because it's a piece of shit because he's such a nice guy.)

It has a complicated plot which goes on for an unbearable duration. Every now and again, one of the characters says 'Amsterdam!' to remind the audience - and particularly the Academy voters - which box to tick.

Rotten Tomatoes:
Amsterdam has a bunch of big stars and a very busy plot, all of which amounts to painfully less than the sum of its dazzling parts.
