I wasted time with this. Ricky Gervais is brilliant (I love Extras) but has to work with many other ppl to make something as big as a feature film, including this tedious Merchant guy who drags on his coat-tails.
But my main reaction to this film is to their attitude (the filmmakers’) to their own country/culture, as personified in the film’s title. OK, it’s depressed, and they’re depressed – but they don’t have to drag us all down with them. I’m sorry I watched this shit.
A 1970s-set comedy centered on three young working class friends in a dreary suburb of Reading.
