Cleo de 5 à 7

Cleo de 5 à 7 (Agnès Varda, 1962) Corinne Marchand

After an almost sixty-year gap in viewings, as far as I can remember, I watched this in the 1960s as more or less a documentary of how people lived in Paris - without developing any kind of idea as to what kind of people they were, or even that there was a story of some kind.

Having seen the film again, I can see why I didn't remember the plot: it's because it's not important. Both plot strands are sufficiently resolved, but it has little effect on the characters, who seem to be there mainly to allow the camera to follow them around Paris. Not that that's a bad thing in this case.
