Faces (John Cassavetes, 1968)
John Marley, Gena Rowlands, Lynn Carlin
A middle-aged man leaves his wife for a younger woman. Shortly after, his ex-wife also begins a relationship with a younger partner. The film follows their struggles to find love amongst each other.
Sorry John Cassavetes, I’m going to make a judgement about your looong film Faces (1968) when I’ve only seen half of it: I know when I’m beaten. I understand that the film’s subject is pointless, unmotivated, random meaninglessness. It doesn’t follow that the film itself has to display the same characteristics.
