Ferrari (Michael Mann, 2023) Adam Driver (lol), Penélope Cruz, Shailene (lol) Woodley, Giuseppe Festinese

This is based on a specific 1957 Mille Miglia race, in which the tyre really was cut by the piece of metal in the road, blah blah, sif we care.

It's one of those stupid American films in which English is spoken but with an 'Italian' accent, so that we imagine (but we don't) that the characters are really speaking Italian. Made even harder to believe by Penélope Cruz being Spanish and hardly able to speak English, and by Adam Driver's acting being a bit worse than that of Robby the Robot, who doesn't speak at all.

I thought Michael Mann had the reputation of being a good director of action films. I don't where I got that idea. This is by far the worst evocation of a vehicular race I've even seen. It's thumb-twiddlingly tedious. I swear The Kid Stakes (Tal Ordell, 1927), which is about kids racing in billycarts pulled by goats, is much more exciting.
