Nashville

Nashville (Robert Altman, 1975) wr. Joan Tewkesbury; Keith Carradine, Karen Black, Ronee Blakley, Ned Beatty, Geraldine Chaplin, Shelly Duvall, Henry Gibson, Jeff Goldblum ...

Overrated. My main gripe is that it is a misrepresentation of what Nashville produces. The songs for this film were written by the cast, and are crap. This is the place - OK, the industry - that is the current representation of the music that came down from the mountains. And Altmann dumps on that.

Yes, I know his film is not about what I'm interested in about Nashville - and even I am not particularly interested in the genre. I guess the music thing has drawn my attention to something unpleasant in what has attracted Altman to this subject. He seems to be a snob, in various ways.
