Rushmore (Wes Anderson, 1998)

The extracurricular king of Rushmore preparatory school is put on academic probation.

So on the strength of having got away with making Bottle Rocket - even tho the public didn't like it, people like Marty Scorsese said it was OK - Anderson and his talentless friend Owen Wilson got something like $10mill given to them - to make a film about Wes's old school. Seventeen-year-old Jason Schwartzman carries much of the film, daring to appear with Bill Murray - tho he doesn't look very interested.
