Serpico (Sidney Lumet, 1973)
I didn’t believe a word of this. One single cop is 100% good ( = not on the take) while everyone else in the police dept and the mayor’s office and you-name-it is 100% bad ( = either on the take or condoning it). And said single cop (yes, his name’s Serpico and Al Pacino is inside him) never explains why. (‘I just wanna do my job’, etc.) Salt and Wexler wrote the screenplay for director Lumet (1973). Nuh.
