48 Shades made its debaue at the Brisbane Film Festival, it didn't travel any further than Australia. it was however nominated for two AFI Awards in 2006, the year of its release.

AFI Nominated for Best Music: Adam Lung and Justin Hunter

AFI Nominated for Best Production Design: Michelle Southern.

An interesting fact however, the movie was based ont he Award winning book; 48 Shades of Brown by Brisbane author Nick Earls. It won the prestigious Children's Book of the Year: Older Readers Award from the Children's Book Council of Australia in 2000. It was also converted into a successful play.

Brisbane International Film Festival: 48 Shades's world premeir was held at the Brisbane International Film Festival 2006. .

Australia on Show at the 61st Australian International Movie Convention 14th August, 2006 : . It was shown along with many other successful Australian Films such as '2:37', 'Clubland', 'Last Train to Freo' and Romulus, My Father and others. It recived positive feedback and commetry.
