48 Shades has a rather small internet presences in reguards to the internet today. At best there are severalfilm reveiws, at worst; the title is simply mentioned in screening programmes. Only two years after its realease and the movies website http://www.48shadesmovie.com.au has been removed from its server so its extreamly hard to find official information. The only reliable sources being information found through the internet movie database and the Australian Film Commission.

Most of the fanbase associated witht he film has came from the success fo the book. 48 Shades of Brown was extreamly successful nove before the film and has a small cult following, especially in Queensland. Both the book and the movie were set in Brisbane, and the film captures that small country town feeling that Nick Earls ingrained in text. As a result, at time throught the film, its the location of Brisbane that is more interesting than the characters and their situation. Therfore choice of the premiere at the Brisbane International Film Festival made perfect sense. The premeire was extreamly successful, mainly because it was 'home turf', most of Brisbane turned out mainly because it was a basically a film about Brisbane. Unfortunatly this didn't role over into the rest of Australia which explains why it didn't do well in the box office.

While there has been little published in the way of articles, 48 Shades has a small internet presences that mostly revolves around bland reviews on most of the movie database websites. I was only able to find one website dedicated to the film, and it was mostly dedicated to Daniel Lapaine and his acting career rather than the movie. Likewise there were several unofficial websites dedicated to Nick Earls.
