The Dish

Dish, The (Rob Sitch, 2000) comedy; Sam Neill (Cliff Buxton), Kevin Harrington, Tom Long, Patrick Warburton [as seen on Seinfeld], Genevieve Mooy, Tayler Kane, Roy Billing, Bille Brown, Andrew S. Gilbert, Lenka Kripac, Matthew Moore, Eliza Szonert, John McMartin, Carl Snell; Toronto 2000; Working Dog Productions; Evan Williams review Weekend Australian Review 21-22 October 2000: 21 - 'Dish lacks real bite'

The second film from the team that made The Castle: not quite as successful, but still very good, and in the same ways. It's a lot better than the last one: Any Questions for Ben?

David Stratton:
It's a similar theme to that of The Castle, the first film by Rob Sitch and his Working Dog team, but far, far more successfully handled here. These are wonderful characters, beautifully, subtly drawn and played, and the film is much more than a comedy - though the outcome is well known, there's suspense and a sense of wonder here as these small-town blokes become a crucial cog in one of the most exciting moments in recent history. David Stratton, SBS

Luke Buckmaster:
The Dish, an unashamedly sentimental account of Australia’s role in producing signals necessary to broadcast the Apollo 11 moon landing, is a very different kettle of fish to The Castle, being both a rose-tinted celebration of the past and a picture book-style history lesson. The Guardian.
